Unpretentious, straightforward, and honestly addictive, the Bai family Baozhong is a clean and professional no frills execution of  jade oolong, back to take its place as one of the most reliable crowd pleasers of the catalog.  This year's rains made the tea bit more complex, less sweetness but also less astringency, with a better price.  A good competition Baozhong is melon-apple fruity and floral; somehow incredibly brisk and green without any grassiness in the slightest.

On site during our last visit to the Bai family granted us even greater selectability to choose the most favored tea from their various  Class A competition Baozhong.  One harvested in late April from higher elevation Qing Xin bushes was eventually selected due to its execution of fragrance, flavor, mouthfeel, and finish.  That year we discovered this garden + timeframe's harvest is also enjoyed by Junyu's mother, and since then we often compare our notes to her preferences.

Bai Junyu has become rather well-known around Taiwan. English speaking tea drinkers may know him as Jacob Bai. He is the 4th generation of tea craftsmen originally from Anxi county, Fujian.
