For those unsure of which tea to cake from the Fuding / Zhenghe release, for those just wanting to sample all of the collection for an educational comparison of these two titans of the white tea world, for those wanting a bomb holiday gift for their fellow tea lover (or just for themselves :), and/or for those that just want a cool box to keep around after they drink some nice tea... we present the Birds of a Feather white tea box.
This array of teas presents a way to taste the many dimensions of white tea: teas of various picking standard, harvest time, production technique, terroir/elevation, and vintage. 14 different teas individually packaged, ready to session out, brewing instructions on each session packet. These teas are from the two most acclaimed, competitive white tea producing regions in the world, Zhenghe and Fuding, both of northern Fujian province.
These boxes have arrived (they were previously on pre-order) and are going out now.
I haven't gone through every sample, but my wife and I have been enjoying this tea! I think the premise is wonderful, and the selections are of great quality!
I received this as a gift, my first Rivers and Lakes experience (not the last). And what a gift it is! Phenomenal teas. The packaging is beautiful -- colors, graphics, textures, proportion -- and the delicately compressed "biscuits" are perfect for my new gaiwan. When I am drinking these teas, steep by steep, all I want to do is savor while staring out the window at winter. It is a full experience in itself. Thank you, Gus and growers, for re-igniting my love of tea.
A very fun second installment in the Zhenghe/Fuding series. Will echo the appreciation for the biscuit versus dragon balls -- you can really see the quality of the leaf material better and the leaves unfurl easily without having to blast hot water. Unsurprisingly preferred the Zhenghe but appreciated the Fuding more this time around. My stand-outs were the 2024 Zhenghe King Peony, the 2019 Zhenghe Bai Mu Dan ("Olde Peony"), and the 2024 Zhenghe Gong Mei. My partner and I very much enjoyed drinking through these on slow winter mornings.
This Birds Of A Feather White Tea Box was a wonderful treat & thanks for making it available! Truly enjoyed the opportunity to experience each of them & I agree with the general consensus that Zhenghe has more character than Fuding . . . though the Fuding 2025 Old Bush Peony was my favorite (because of its awesome perfumed return; even throughout the day) & therefore ordered the cake.
